With private cars reaching increasingly unsustainable numbers and pollution touching new heights, local transportation is one of the biggest issues facing the Indian economy today. The Auto-Rickshaw, which was once ubiquitous in many cities, is one of the most sustainable solutions from a logistical, socio-economic and environmental perspective. There are around 5 million auto-rickshaws in our country, but only 30% of them are in efficient use. Why? Because of inefficiencies prevalent in conventional hailing procedure such as availability and fares. In 2014, Jugnoo set out with the vision of overcoming these shortcomings and reviving the auto-rickshaw as a sustainable solution to India’s transportation problems. Our approach was bringing much-needed structure into this space, aggregating auto-rickshaws with the latest technology and making the process of riding an auto-rickshaw both convenient for the user and beneficial for the driver. However, since then we have grown beyond just an auto-aggregator. We’ve entered new verticals in the hyper-local marketplace and introduced exciting new services. Chinmay Agarwal has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and did a Joint Masters in Advanced Robotics on Erasmus Mundus scholarship from Ecole Centrale Nantes, France and Univ. of Genoa, Italy. He embarked his entrepreneurship journey as co-founder and CTO at Click Labs, a profitable SaaS technology solution provider. At Jugnoo, he performs a comprehensive role by spearheading both product and operations.
